Summary: Mixed feelings about the performance of the remote
Comment: I've been using the remote for several weeks and have mixed feelings about its performance. Overall, I like that fact that my remote clutter has gone down, but I've had to contact customer support several times to get the remote settings fine-tuned to my setup.
The software that came with the remote does not contain some of the advanced controls that are available to the tech consultants at Logitech. Another complaint I have is that the software is overly complicated in some areas when you go beyond the "wizard" setup, and could use some usability enhancements.

Summary: Better than expected
Comment: I'd first purchased this remote because the remote I'd used previously for my receiver was now to old to control my Samsung LCD, and none of them controled the mac mini I use for my media center controller. Some of you may know that the mac mini controller's responsiveness and range also leave much to be desired. Enter the Logitech Harmony remote...
While it is strange that the process to configure the remote is online, it does make sense. They have just about every device imaginable, and the way it's configured to do actions makes lots of sense in switching from different "contexts" (playing games, watching tv, etc). I'd feared that it would be too user friendly and I wouldn't be able to get under the hood a bit and do my own button configuration, not so.
The remote and it's software let you take as much or as little command as you'd like in configuring it. So you can just get it working in about 10 mins first, and then you can tinker after if you like. This is was definately a worthwhile and recommended purchase.

Summary: Excellent product - Worth the money !!
Comment: I am very much happy that I dont need to handle multiple remotes. This is a great product and I am totally satisfied with the way it handles multiple devices.

Summary: The Solution
Comment: For about $60 you can get all those remotes off your coffee table. This model, near the bottom of the Harmony line of remotes, does the trick. I always have had trouble programming remotes, but this Logitech product works by downloading the programming from the Web after setting it up properly. There are also substantial, effective troubleshooting procedures. The only think I don't like about this product is that the visual representation of some controls is only so-so, a small LCD screen. The more expensive products in this line have fancier read-outs that probably work better.

Summary: Maybe the Harmony for Xbox would be better
Comment: The Harmony 550 lived up to expectations. But it took a while to really tweak it until you are fully satisfied with it. The Logitech database is a good place to start getting the device working. Thereafter you can make the remote 'learn' commands from your old remote if needed.
I would have gotten the harmony for xbox if i had known that it works on the same database as the harmony 550. A bit plus point is the four colour buttons which are often used in many on screen menus.
The white colour is also much more appealing.
