Summary: Overkill yet lacking
Comment: I replaced my logitech 550 with this remote and found it lacking what I really like about my 550. First the backlight on the buttons is a joke. I can hardly even see what's lit up. Second the buttons feel cheap, hard plastic, I prefer the 550's rubber buttons that become completely lit. Third the 880 also has no rubber backing, which I also liked on the 550. The lcd on the remote is nice but its grainy and I feel, not needed. It might add to the cool factor for some and was part of what made me buy it, that and I caught it on sale for 79.99. I am now sending this remote back and sticking with the 550. It does everything I need.

Summary: Excellent choice
Comment: I was recommended this product but was told to get 800 series or higher. I order and received two harmony remote control (I needed two) before I knew it. User friendly to install the software and it walk me through the process. Would recommend this product and series for the price. If you are using more than two remote controls to operate dvd, surround sound receiver, wii, directv or cable box, etc this is for you! Make sure you know you make and model numbers for your equipment (s).

Summary: My 3rd Harmony 880 With "Issues"
Comment: First of all, from functionality POV, this has been the best remote I've ever had. It's highly programmable and flexible. Although I love it, Harmony has TERRIBLE build and design problems in the 880.
Logitech has replaced the unit three times under warranty, each time due to key failure. Also, be aware as well that the cradle connection is VERY flaky. Expect continuing annoyances on that front.
Since I'm out of warranty, Logitech offered me a 50% discount on a replacement unit. A lot better than nothing but I paid a hefty price when I originally bought it and it's a shame to have to spend more money on a solution I already had in my hand.
I would strongly suggest that those considering the Harmony 880 or 890 look towards something else. I'm going to order a Harmony One.

Summary: Clutter in the drawer, Harmony on the coffee table
Comment: I have been using the Harmony 880 for two years with great results! I just bought one for my father-in-law as a Christmas gift because he was amazed by how nice it was to use mine on a recent visit.
If you buy one the first piece of advise I can give is to open the battery cover and make sure the rechargeable battery is properly seated. There is a tiny bit of play in the battery and the Harmony will not charge properly if the battery is not making proper contact. The easy cure for this is to put a small piece of paper at the bottom of the battery which will force it up to the contacts. Once this is done you are ready charge it, program it and then real fun begins (using it).
The interface for programing is very straightforward and won't take too much time for even a novice computer user to catch on. For novice computer users, don't unplug the USB cable until you are sure the remote has fully programed and rebooted then make sure and test the functions when it ask you to. If something doesn't seem to turn on properly you can adjust the timing on the remote or I have found it may be easier to change the way the sequence occurs. For example if you want to program your remote to "Watch a DVD" and it says that it is going to: 1. Turn on DVD player 2. Turn on receiver 3. Turn on TV 4. Change TV to Input 2 . Then you go test your system and the DVD player doesn't seem to turn on. I suggest just changing the sequence so that it becomes: 1. Turn on receiver 2. Turn on DVD player ... and so on from there. Many times that will solve the problem.
Don't be afraid to rearrange what buttons you have in the LCD, move your most used items to the front. Example would be, I use a DirecTV DVR and I have put the "Red" delete button on my main selection screen so I can use it to quickly delete recorded shows I no longer want.
You will really enjoy this remote and if you do have problems there are a few forums you can find on the web to help or contact Logitech and they should get you up to speed.

Summary: Almost perfect, but couldn't give 4.7 stars
Comment: Setup was painless and easy to customize. If you can setup any of your basic equipment than the Harmony should be a piece of cake. I like that each individual event can be customized for entry and exit.
I am currently controlling a LG LCD, Cable DVR, Dolby 5.1 tuner, DVD player, VCR, XBOX360, Mac mini, and a PS3 (sort of, it runs off BT...). Most impressive is that it also replaces the Apple remote for Front Row or Boxee (awesome, btw).
I also was concerned about using any previously reprogrammed buttons, such as the 30 second skip on me Comcast DVR. The Harmony learned any special buttons with ease. Online setup is fairly straightforward. So much that I even set up the remote at my office, away from all the devices. Once I got home I tested everything, made a couple adjustments to my liking, and done! Guests at my house are so impressed with how simple it is to operate everything, I think I'll give a couple away as gifts.
All in all, a great product. I'll be buying more Logitech products in the future just because of this remote.
