Summary: My Everything remote
Comment: I own 2 of these,I love this remote. i've been using it for about 3 months now, i have it controling my, dvr, hdtv, surround sound, xbox 360,PS3 (ir2bt adapter),my computer, air conditionor! and my room lighting, u can custom, the bottons funition! Traditional universal remotes u'll have to push a button to for it to focus on a device, not this one. i can change the channel on my dvr, put the volume up on my surround sound system and dim my lights, as if it was all connected, without making the remote focus on the device. :)

Comment: It works like a charm and revolutionized my multimedia experience.

The software is not the greatest, but it works just fine. The biggest lesson to learn from this remote is that you have to hold it in the direction of the equipment for about 5-15sec. This is no longer than the time it takes to pick up a different controller or push multiple power buttons on the same remote.

I found it very easy to make adjustments and customize buttons once my base activities were setup. I have a Samsung 46in LCD and I wanted to be able to change the picture setting, so I made a button on the controller the P.Mode button and it works perfectly. Make sure if you customize a button, that you do it in the activities pane and not the device pane.

After a month of research and shopping I finally made the decision and could not be happier. My brother has the same controller and is just as happy.

I do not understand the people who have had problems with this remote. The website makes it easy to search supported components. If you cannot take the time (1 minute) to do this before you buy a $200 remote, then you deserve a headache.

Summary: Best Remote Ever
Comment: I was a little intimidated at first with the whole Internet setup, but following the directions really made it simple. The website really does all the work. All you have to know is the way your components are hooked up to each other, follow the prompts, and your on your way. Working the remote is also very simple, the help button will guide you through any problems that may come up. I bought this remote because I wanted to simplify my universal and that is exactly what it did and with tremendously unexpected ease.

Summary: Sweet all in one Universal Remote!!
Comment: This is a must have for todays' home theatre systems. My set up is not that complex. LCD flat screen, cable box/DVR from Cox, DVD changer/suround sound system, Nintendo Wii, and an Apple TV. Every single activity requires at least 2 remotes, sometimes 3.
With the Harmony, everything can be controlled by one remote. Even the Apple TV. Setup was a extremely easy and straight forward. The software pretty much walks you through the entire process. The manual is pretty useless. Other than the button name index that corresponds to the button customization screen you can pretty much trash/recycle it. Obviously there was some fine tuning that needs to be done but overall, got it up and running in 30 minutes or less. I believe there are people that does this as a paid service to set up the remotes. I would give it a try first as it really is not that bad.
The activity buttons are awesome. Set up an activity i.e. watch TV, the remote automatically turns on the appropriate hard ware, in this case the TV (set to the appropriate input) and the DVR/cable box. It automatically sets the channel control and volume control to the appropriate hard ware. When done, it shuts everything off with one button as well. Not like other universal remotes where you have to turn off one by one.
The product database is extensive and the controls are almost spot on. It even has the funky "A red trianges", "B yellow square" buttons set up from my cable remote right on the touch screen.
The favorites channel menu is cool tool. You can preset 24 favorite channels on the touch screen. Not only can you put in the numbers, you can also add in the Stations ICON as the button, i.e. ESPN, CNN, etc... There are a few sites out there that you can down load the icons for free. Only wish I could change the Activities Icon as well. Hopefully Logitech is working on a firmware upgrade.
And yes, I said I had an Apple TV. It's like an Ipod designed for your TV. You can rent and buy movies, upload photos, watch you tube right from the box. Yes, the Harmony is compatible with it. It does have some issues with the weird press and hold the play/pause button for the OFF sequence but other than that it is pretty sweet. If any body seen the white apple remote, you know that will be lost between the cushions in no time.
I think you can program it to control IR light dimmers as well to have that truely home theatre feel.
One complaint I have is that the IR is not very strong as many people noted. You do have to be pointing at the devices for it to work perfectly sometimes. The remote that came with the cable box you can pretty much be pointing it anywhere and it still works. Not sure why.
Only reason that I gave it a 4 star and it is a bit pricey too.

Summary: Less clutter, yeah!
Comment: This unit is very nicely made and has a very sleak design. Programming the unit is not unlike writing a short program with an instructor the take you in hand every step of the way. I disagree with some of the reviews that claim it takes some great techno-wizardry to set it up. The only way you can go wrong is if you decide you know how to program the unit before you read the instructions. This can be difficult for some people who assume that one remote is just like the others. This is a new generation of remotes. Of course, they should all have been done this way but the price would have been unreasonable until now.
I have not found a remote controlled entertainment device it does not work with. When I say "work with" I mean every function that was available on the original remote is available on this unit. It is amazing. I'm really glad I took the plunge. You get what you pay for!
