Summary: Strong product with weak web site
Comment: The key strength of this remote is an LCD display that uses Q&A to troubleshoot problems. For example, say one component fails to turn on when it should. You can press the Help button and the remote will ask you a series of yes/no questions (e.g., "Is the Cable Box on?") until it figures out which commands to resend in order to fix the problem.

You set up the remote through a web site that asks you for the identity of each of your components. The web page then downloads the remote over a USB cable. But the web site is poorly designed and difficult (for me) to use. For example, when the default setup assumed that the cable box was connected to the DTR input of the A/V receiver, it took a lot of drilling and puzzling to figure out how to tell the remote it was actually the DTV port. All the functions are in there, they're just hard to find.

Summary: Excellent REALLY universal remote
Comment: Excellent universal remote - controls every single device I add to it - TV, DVD player, satellite box, media center PC and even XBOX (except remote power ON which XBOX is uncapable of). LCD display is a really nice feature because you are not limited by a fixed number of buttons on the remote. Also setting up the remote is a no-brainer. Just install the software , tell it which devices you have and it does the job on its' own. Finally my experience with their customer support has been great - I had a minor problem with battery door on the remote and they responded promptly by sending me replacement door in a matter of days. I paid for this over $100 bucks at CircuitCity and at $89 on Amazon this is definitely great buy.

Summary: Not Logitech
Comment: Be aware that this is a clone. I put 3 stars, a middle number, but I do not own it. Caveat Emptor.

Summary: So far so good
Comment: Just got the remote last night and it's been working fine. The software they sent along on the CD is pointless to use because once you go online it tells you to uninstall the old software and download the new -- Just go directly to the website and follow the instructions. Also, if you have XP (Service pack 2) you need to override some safety features to put the software into the remote.

Once online it took a little work to figure everything out. And I definitely needed to do some tweaking to get everything just so. (unhooking remote from USB, testing it, redoing the programing, downloading update to remote, and over and over until it was right). The whole process took about 2 - 2.5 hours. The remote does all the basic functions, but needs the added tweaking to ensure that the more complex functions are accounted for. All in all the remote works as I expected based on the other reviews. I will add that the buttons seem to stick a little bit, but it is not so bad as to make the remote unworthy of a reccomendation. For the price, I don't think this remote can be beat.

Summary: Great for wife and kids
Comment: I have onwed one other expensive universial remote (HTM MX-500). In comparison this remote is easy to set up and very easy to use. I had my whole setup going in about 20 minutes.

Remote:
Initial impression: Easy to hold in your hand, nice buttons, love the glow button, glowing buttons bright and easy to read. Love the 3 Activity buttons at the top. Remote has a narrow waistline so it fits your hand nicely.

After 1 month of use: Remote is loved by the family, push one button you are watching TV, ready to leave push one button everything is off. Big hit with the kids and the wife. I being a bit more nerdy like to mess with things. This remote is not really well suited for that. It is all about simplifing things. And the included downloadable media guide is useless to me (you have to constantly download it every week or two) but it's only one key. The help funtion is really great, Has already saved a few my families usual "Help desk" questions for me. The remote can just ask the user if things are set up properly and if not it takes care of them.

Software:
Initial impression: Easy to use, all my devices were available. Requires a web connection and the web interface was pretty good. Some of the pages can get a bit confusing but good overall. Adding devices is very easy. Adding activites (macros) is easy but customizing them is not. The site made some assumptions about my remote setup and it required a bit of thinking to figure out how to set it up the way I wanted. But again, very quick to do, once you figure it out.
I recommended this remote to two other Geeky friends and they are equally happy with it.
