Summary: Great remote, but breaks often
Comment: I've had universal remotes in the past and sat in front of the entertainment center trying all the device codes hoping to find one that completely mirrors the functions I use. But with the SST-659 it was really easy just to plug in my model numbers and let their database manage the set up. The family loves the easy "activity" buttons and while it can get just as complicated as you want it to with the "Device control" feature, I rarely ever find a need to grab the old remotes.

The only problems I've had were:

1) the habit of the unit getting "out of sync" with the power state of different devices. I blame my kids for not waiting for the remote to send all the signals out or partially covering the transmitter end with their hands. While the "Help" button is, in my opinion, very simple to walk through to get back to power state sync, compared to the "Press an activity button" simplicity of basic operation, that can be more than some folks are willing to do.

2) I have had to return this for replacement at LEAST 4 times. Intrigue/Harmony has always been very helpful, courteous, and timley. But I originally paid near $200 for this item and expect less failures: a DOA replacement, two faulty backlights, and a unrepairable lock-up, coupled with (at least before Logitech bought them) having to return the defective item to Canada (with extra customs forms and cost).

In short: I love it and just hope my next replacement is the one that lasts. Be sure the full warranty is honored wherever you buy it.

Comment: This remote is a great product, but if you are looking for an easy way to integrate all your fine-tuning controls for your system into one remote, this is not the one. Set up is very easy, so long as you just want to play movies, watch tv, listen to music, or simply "use" your system. If, however, you are like me and like to tinker with sound settings based on what you are playing at the time, you'll find yourself keeping the OEM remote handy. The Harmony could be set up to do all that stuff just as well as your old remote, but it is much easier just to use the old one.

If you have folks in the house who can't master your system, get this remote--no more running to fix problems for them (the remote walks you through getting everything set up correctly). If you want to fine-tune your system all the time, just keep your old remotes out where you can reach them.

Comment: Wow, this is the remote I have been looking for all my life. The hardest part about using the remote is finding your model numbers for your components. I can control all three of my game console's with it, my computer, not to mention the DVD and TV. I like it so much I just bought it for my dad as well, as he will geek out on it as much as me. Easy to use and set-up, and will satisfy any tech-geek out there. I think I will go make out with it now.

Comment: I bought this remote and had it up and running with almost no issues in the first 15 minutes from the box. The only small discrepencies were remidied just moments later, following the cues from the website and remote. I can not believe the simplicity in the intitial set up. It makes vegging out in front of the TV super easy. I had 6 remote controls, including one failing remote for my Denon receiver, it replaced them all. The macro buttons set themselves up, and I am now one button from watching TV, or a DVD, or even my XBOX (which it does not control). I like this remote so much I am buying 5 more as Christmas gifts for people I like.

I haven't figured it out yet, but I have a 5 disc DVD changer, and I know there is a way to change discs, any thoughts?

Comment: I thought this remote would be the answer I was looking for to control all of my components but I was very disappointed. I could not get the "Watch TV" and "Watch a Movie" buttons to function properly. Just about every time I would press one of the buttons the remote would fail to turn on one of my components (usually the cable box).

I was constantly going back to the setup menu to reprogram it and change delay times. After a week of this I went back to using the individual remotes.
