Summary: Complete Ripoff
Comment: I bought a $6 cable on Amazon that works just as well as this one. And it's 6 meters long. What a waste.

Summary: Massively overpriced, unethical company, somewhat shoddy.
Comment: I've worked around professional audio for 20 years, though I'm a software engineer.

Monster Cables are massively, massively overpriced. There's no evidence whatsoever that they work better than cables half the price or even less. You will never see these in a professional studio except if someone was stuck.

They seem professional quality - if overpriced - but I've twice had cable failures, admittedly over many years - but then no other brand, even cheap ones like Hosa, has had two failures. (BTW, Hosa make fine and very cheap cables, definitely worth a look for semi-pro applications where you're price sensitive, like a home studio.)

And the company are serious, serious scumbags, they sue anyone over anything. I hate legal thugs.

Save your money. Most name brands of cables these days are at least as good quality as Monster and much cheaper.

Summary: Rip-off
Comment: Compare this cable with the HDMI cable I bought from Amazon for < $10, the quality was non distinguishable.

I returned the cable to Best Buy because it's just a plain rip-off!
NEVER BUY this cable!

Summary: A cable is a cable is a cable, especially HDMI.
Comment: HDMI transmits digitally. That means 1 or 0. There can't be interference. Shielding means nothing. It either transmits or it doesn't. Never pay more than 10 dollars for a cable. User the internet for more help. Monster is a terrible company. The people who sell these cables in stores are terrible people. If you bought this, you got scammed.

Summary: Just not needed...
Comment: There's no need for "shielding" and all these nonsense specs in an HDMI cable. It's a digital signal. Analog signals need shielding, heavier gauge copper for long runs, etc. Digital does not.

I bought the cheapest one at Monoprice, the cheapest one on Amazon, and compared to a friend's Monster there's no difference. His whole rig uses Monster cables for video, so we swapped for a week. I used one on my PS3 and one on my 37" 1080p HDTV from my cable box (SA8300HD) and there is absolutely no difference, with the same monitor/PS3/cable-box with the dirt-cheap cables vs. Monster. NONE. He agreed completely, although it's too late for him to send his back. He's got them up on a popular auction site now to try and recoup some of his lost investment.

Don't buy this. It's not necessary, will not improve your video or audio, and is simply overkill for a digital signal that either works or doesn't, with no loss in quality amongst differing cables.
