Summary: So far, it works great.
Comment: I have my Tivo on the bottom shelf and line of sight was rather spotty. I purchased the Next gen remote control and it works great. I don't know about the battery life, it's only been 5 days. However, I do wish that the charging light would go out when the battery is charged. That light is really obnoxious. I had to remove the extra battery from the slot and left it in the other slot for safe keeping.

Summary: Better than all the rest
Comment: I have used the powermid pyramid and the equivalent Radio Shack IR repeaters and they work only half the time. Your remote control must be within 8 feet of the IR receiver to even work close to half the time.
The Next Gen. RF extender works as described. My equipment is in the basement and the remote works from all the rooms in the house.
I did discover that the receiver should be placed very close to the equipment.
The manual falls short in the English language department and I wondered why they didn't outsource writing it to an American company but the operation is so straight forward that this wasn't an issue.
In researching this item I discovered that multiple IR LEDs can be paralleled of the single jack with a simple cable splitter.

Summary: It really works.
Comment: I will first get to the one problem I had....the poorly written instructions authored by someone with few English skills! It is both funny and a bit frustrating to read the instructions. But, getting passed that, this thing works! I am also controlling 4 COMPONENTS with one unit and NO ADDITIONAL EMITTERS OR RF TRANSMITTERS. I thought I may have to purchase additional emitters or transmitters, but I took my chances and it all works. At the same time I bought this gadget...I purchased a Sony universal remote (RM-VL600). So...the SONY REMOTE has the RF transmitter inside and it controls all my components "behind closed doors." One thing I did have to figure out...making sure the eye can "see" all the components. There was some trial and error regarding placement of my components in relation to the eye, but it all works, and I have been able to put away all my other remotes!

Summary: Awesome!
Comment: I recently switched to Direct TV. I have 3 rooms in my house that I don't really use a whole lot, but still wanted to have my TV's work. I bought one receiver and ran a splitter to the other 3 rooms since they are all relatively close to each other. I bought this little gadget so that I could control the receiver from any of the rooms. I was skeptical about this just because I have no idea how placing the little battery in the remote could make it work. It worked great from every room that I use it in, and just to test, I have even taken the remote outside to the street and it still works the box flawlessly. I have no idea how it works, but it works and works well. I would recommend this to anyone!

Summary: Decent, but get the extras
Comment: I bought this as an alternative solution to a full blown wired IR redistribution system, and I'm really liking my decision. It's pretty slick how they accomplish the IR repeating - and it works well.

I have two issues - not complaints, just things to note:

1. The kit comes with pieces-parts for one remote - for every extra remote you want to throw into the mix, you need their special battery adapter.

2. The kit comes with pieces-parts to control (basically) only one device. The manufacturing cost between sending out a "one-eye" wire versus a "three-eye" wire is negligible; it should have been thrown in.

However, with that said, I am sticking with it. I'm ordering the extra parts, and honestly, now, for a total of maybe $100, I have what would cost $350 easily if bought in an audio specialty store.

It gets a 10/10 for cleverness / originality, 7/10 for "pre-sales product disclosure" and 8/10 for performance. All in all , definitely a good buy.
