Summary: It works! Instructions are actually useful - not regular "stereo" instructions.
Comment: Finally, a universal remote that actually can control everything. It controls all components of my home theater system: Onkyo receiver, Hitachi widescreen, DirecTV DVR, and Denon DVD/CD player. Having purchased other $100-$200 dollar remotes that didn't actually control more than 2 components, it was really refreshing to find one that works.

PROS:
1) It works.
2) Instructions are understandable to normal people. I programmed keys for macros to turn on all the home theater at once, and to switch the video output from DirecTV to watch movies. Programming a macro key will save you from going through many steps.
3) If the batteries are running low the remote tells you by blinking, will do what you want and immediately shut off to conserve power. Don't have to wait until it stops working to go find those batteries.

CONS:
1) Battery eater. Goes through a set every 6-8 weeks. Rechargeables are a good idea.
2) Vibration is sensitive. Walking past the table it is sitting on will turn it on.
3) Because the keys are not raised it is difficult to control what button you're pushing if you have larger fingers. Just for some of the buttons close together like "channel down" and "last channel." (Hearsay from my husband - I don't have any problems),

Overall, an excellent value. Patience with the initial programming will pay off in that you can put away the pile of remotes.

Summary: Two words: Rechargeable Batteries
Comment: Pros:
--The only reason I am giving this product
2 stars is for it's stamina. We've had
it for two years and it is still funtioning.

Cons:
--It is motion sensitive and EVERYTHING sets if off.
You walk around, your cat walks around, you bump the
table, you sit on the couch: the remote lights up.
We changed batteries in this thing at least once a week.
--As someone else mentioned, the buttons are not raised.
I may be spoiled, but if I pay $100 for something, I
shouldn't have to look down at the remote everytime I
need to change the channel or volume.
--It wears easily. Ours still functions, but the keys are
worn down and showing black underneath. Which may be a
product of 2 years worth of use, but if the buttoms were
raised, this may not have been an issue in the first place.
--It is too complex for my taste. My spouse set it up so that
the macros could be pressed to activate multiple devices for a
certain activity, but turning it, for example, from game to TV
mode, requires multiple steps instead of one simple click.

Summary: Use ANYTHING other than this remote.
Comment: As others have suggested, the concept of this remote is a good one: Only show the buttons needed to control that particular device, and only show them when you're actually using the device. Sounds good, right? Too bad it doesn't really work so well in practice.

In fairness, I have to point out the good things first. The buttons are well-lit and easy to understand. When the remote DOES work (more on that later) it works very well. It doesn't suck up batteries like some other devices I've had. It's fairly comfortable in the hand and quite easy to program; it will even learn codes for devices that it doesn't already know about. The back has a nice rubbery grippy feel to it, and because the surface has no physical buttons it's very easy to keep clean.

That about wraps up the good stuff. How bad is this remote? Let me tell you about my experiences with it. The first one I bought was DOA, and Amazon replaced it. The second one worked for a month before dying. Amazon replaced that one too. The third one worked for a shade over two months -- and that's when I ran into my first problem: THIS REMOTE HAS A TRULY PATHETIC 90 DAY WARRANTY, and THE WARRANTY STARTS AT THE MOMENT OF PURCHASE EVEN IF IT WAS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE. So even though I believed I was paying fifty bucks for a remote, I was actually buying an expensive piece of useless plastic.

The manufacturer's customer support is HORRIBLE. They are based in Hong Kong and have no offices here; their only distributor is based in Kentucky and they list no phone number to contact them. (Some Googling will reveal the number, however.) If you DO manage to contact them via phone, you will be greeted with the World's Most Irritated Employees -- or at least that's what they sound like. They will tell you in no uncertain terms that you shouldn't be calling them for technical support on an out-of-warranty product, and you'll be stonewalled.

They do offer email support, but unfortunately their email support 'team' only seems to work every third day and NEVER reads the entire email that you send to them, often asking you for information that you've already provided (in fact, information that they've even quoted in their reply). And that's assuming that they even respond at all. I've waited as long as two weeks (sending my email every other day) for a single response, which ultimately was completely useless and irrelevant to my situation.

The manufacturer's web site claims that, quote, "Our 'Number 1' status Worldwide reflects our commitment to excellence." In my experience, 'number 1' is just about the only thing I'd like to do to this remote and the company that makes it. If Amazon would have let me I would have given this product a "-27 stars" rating. I would rather have a hot lead enema than buy another One For All product.

Summary: returned!
Comment: We bought this remote a week or so ago to control a dvd, tv, digital cable box, and tuner. While it worked (after a call to the company and some updating) I could not STAND the feel of the remote, the sound that the plastic made when clicking, and the fact that you had to look at the remote to click any button (as someone previously mentioned, none of the buttons are raised. It's like one big piece of plastic.) The vibrate function also wore the batteries down really quickly. We ended up returning the remote to the store yesterday.
