Summary: Fantastic HD Television
Comment: I spent countless hours researching the best options for HDTVs and looking at and testing different models, both LCD and plasma and by far plasma takes the cake for normal TV and movie viewing at home. This Panasonic plasma is one of the best. Like others I had seen HDTVs where people actually didn't use them to watch SD because they looked so awful. I have been very impressed with the quality of SD content on this TV. I know one difference is that I am getting off the air channels and not cable which makes a huge difference. Because of the compression on the cable or satellite it makes the image worse, even HD content on cable is worse, picture-wise, than OTA signal. Overall this is an amazing TV with very good picture. You would not be disappointed with this TV.

Pros:
One of the best reproductions of SD content of any HDTVs
Sound quality is great for hidden speakers
Good stand (I was able to customize my installation without needing to purchase a separate mount)
Very slick looks

Cons:
Picture on analog SD not as good as an analog CRT
Have to re-scan channels when power is disconnected
Input naming not customizable, you have to choose from a preset list

I have thoroughly enjoyed this TV and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a flat panel for normal home viewing.

Summary: Blinking red light of death
Comment: Reserched flat screens for over a year, finally decided on the Panny TH42PX75U. The price was right. Now I know why. Everything was groovy until the other night when just settling into a movie there was a loud "pop" and all went dead. Then started the blinking red light. 10 times then pause. Lucky its under warrenty, so a repairman is coming. Seven days later! I went on line and googled Panasonic and blinking red light, low and behold im not the first and wont be the last. Buyer beware of this brand. You might get lucky, you might not. At least before you put down 1300 dollars google the blinking red light issue then make your own choice.

Summary: Fantastic Plasma, Fantastic Price
Comment: This is hands down the best HDTV you can get for the price. I've had this for a month now and I must say that I am very impressed. The picture quality is great - it's 720p, but I compared to 1080p and I can't see a difference - and yes, I am picky about my A/V. I color calibrated this myself with AVIA/HCFR and I nailed the 6500k color temp and RGB levels no problem. I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet, but even DVD's look so crisp on this display.

To sum it up: Unless you don't mind dropping an extra $1000-2000 on a Pioneer, get the Panasonic - you'll be glad you did.

Summary: Great TV for a Great Price.
Comment: I spent a while looking for another hdtv. The other one I have is an RPCRT, with great PQ, but it is a dying standard. I decided to make the move to either plasma or lcd. I nearly got an lcd until I noticed lag in high intensity motion situations on many of them (and that is a problem because I watch TONS of sports). I wanted to stay away from plasma because of burn-in fears. It wasnt until I educated myself that I realized that burn-in is mostly a thing of the past. (when HD plasma tv's first came out, people were watching SD content in 4:3 or letterbox format, this causes the phosphors on the sides and top/bottom of the tv to age slower than in the center of the screen) Watching full screen content, and avoiding leaving a pause or menu screen on constantly for long periods of time is all you have to do in order to avoid burn-in on modern plasma sets like this one.

I installed this tv on a 15 degree rack on the wall in our bedroom. From 14 feet away the PQ is crisp, bright, and does very good blacks and motion scenes. We watch upconverted DVD's and HD tv on it. Both look great. I can't wait to pipe in Blu-Rays onto it when the prices come down on the players.

At $999, no tax, and free shipping, how can you beat this deal! The tv arrived 2 days after I ordered it too. Amazon amazes us once again! If you are on the fence about this tv, stop waiting and buy it, you won't regret it. The Panny plasmas get amazing reviews from Consumer Reports every year.
