Summary: Watching Sports? This TV Handles Fast-Motion Well
Comment: Like so many, I have taken plenty of time researching HDTV in hopes of spending my money wisely.
I wanted a TV that would handle the fast-motion of sports without annoying digital artifacts and motion-blur.
It's not easy. It's difficult to compare models when companies use different words and descriptions for their features and specs and every time you think you have found the right model, you find a negative write-up somewhere on the internet and it makes you re-think your choice.
After lots of research, it's my belief that right now, plasma in most cases, handles fast-motion better than LCD.
I sit about 7-8 ft from the TV and don't have any window issues that could impact glare or reflection. The 42" set is excellent from this distance. Don't make the mistake of buying too small a screen for your room. Viewing distances for wide-screen TVs are different from the viewing distances for the 27" and 32" CRTs that many of us have been used to. I have read many reviews from people who wish they had bought a larger screen. If you are sitting 11-to-12 feet away, you won't get the full value of an HDTV without going to a larger screen than 42".
I decided to go with the Panasonic TH-42PZ85U. At 7-8 ft, I have found the picture to be sharp and detailed and I have observed no motion-blur while watching baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer games. I have had it for 2-weeks and have no complaints.
It's just one person's opinion but don't be scared off by plasma. "image retention" or "burn-in" is no longer the issue with plasma that it once was.
As with all mid-priced HDTVs, you will find watching standard television to be a letdown from what you are used to on tube televisions, but if you watch HD channels and enjoy sports, you should check out this TV.

Summary: Stop look, you need this Plasma.......
Comment: Amazing, vivid colors, deep blacks and greys, INCREDIBLE clarity even with just Comcast HD.
Features are nice, remote is easier to use and program, hooks up in less than 5min with base included.
Definitely recommend using Amazon white glove service. They were fast, clean and courteous, huge plus as a FREE option in some cases.
Rated 5 1/2 out of 5, great deal !!!!

Summary: better than expected
Comment: Bought this to replace a 30" CRT HDTV that was working fine but we wanted something a little bigger After some research we decided to go plasma (no motion blur and better viewing angles) and decided on Panasonic because we could not justify the Pioneer cost. We were very happy with the picture quality of the CRT and did not expect huge difference (except for size) with the Panasonic. The difference is significant. With a good HD signal (not all HD signals are created equal) this set is spectacular. Very clear and life-like images, excellent color. Ok on SD but virtually all we watch now is available in HD, so who cares. A little tinkering with the picture out of the box and it has been excellent. Amazon white glove delivery worked very well. They called after 4 days and delivered and set up the tv as scheduled and advertised. Great product, great price and delivery.

Summary: Wow, I was really impressed
Comment: I've been researching flat screen TV's for over a year. I quickly moved to Plasma's because, well, all hype aside they have a much better picture than LCD's and none of the "ghosting" issues. I understand that 1080p in a 42" is probably overkill but I have no regrets in spending a couple of hundred bucks extra to future-proof what I purchased. There's a lot of hype for "bigger is better" on TV's but we have an average-sized room and anything larger than this would have looked ridiculous.
If you're looking for a great TV to fit a normal-sized house look no further. If this is too much $ I'd get the equivalent 780p and you probably wouldn't be able to tell a difference.
I was a little nervous ordering such an expensive item online but got great communication from the shipping company and quick delivery.
Very satisfied customer, thanks Amazon!

Comment: I kept looking at the Sony LCD tv until Panasonic came out with this model with the 1080P. After it was hooked up to the High Definition by way of the tv cable box; I was amazed of how clear & in such great detail & color on this set. Then I got an upconverting Panasonic DVD player that works with this Viera tv set & my dvd's play alot clearer & sharper than before. This tv has so much clarity & detail; you can even see the makeup on the actors. You can watch sports & movies & not have to worry if the picture will get blurry during the fast action; especially martial art movies. I seen a basketball game in HD on this tv & it looked like you could reach out & touch the players jerseys as if you were standing there in person. Take a look at this tv & you might get one just like I did. Highly recommended!!!
