Summary: Great Value
Comment: Replaced a 15 year old tube TV with the Phillips. I made my decision subsequent to a road trip or two to nearby stores because I don't believe you can make a subjective decision on picture quality based only on written reviews. I looked at the major brands side by side and liked the Phillips picture. Excellent quality per my tastes.

Easy to set up wiring. Also like the Philips method that guides you through color, tint, brightness and contrast adjustments by going through a series of side by side on screen pictures and asking you to pick the one that most appeals to you. Much nicer than making tint or color adjustments via separate controls.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this TV. One minor con would be the lack of swivel capability on the base.

Summary: Overal good value for the money
Comment: PROS:

- great resolution
- 1:1 image while displaying through a pc (although you need a dvi to hdmi converter)
- built in tuner, allows me to watch cable tv on it without a box
- usb port, very convenient for upgrading firmware.
- 3 hdmi ports useful for connecting multiple hd devices
- good SD picture quality with overscan options
- color ( after calibration, defaults are dreadful)

CONS:
- average black levels, good with dynamic contrast on but too much color shift and distracting feature.
- speakers are muddy and unclear but you can fiddle with the EQ to address that, not a perfect fix. Most people have a home theater.
- cannot completely turn this unit off, goes into standby
- poor viewing angles, off center black shifts to light grey along with other colors. Have to be facing the set directly to see true color response. Again most of the time you watch straight on.
- one color temp is set universally for all inputs, that is you can change contrast, brightness and tint, but all will share color temperature.
-color temp drifts when you adjust contrast and brightness

Comments:

This tv overall really shines when you calibrate the color temperature. I have used a hardware puck from Gretagmacbeth to measure the white point on this tv and use the custom settings to bring it to 6500K which really applies to any source you plug to the tv. I use a custom temp for xbox 360 and cable and both look great. If you are like me and not satisfied with the Normal , Warm , Cool presets, either being too blue or too green ( warm ). Try my settings and see if they help you get a nice neutral calibrated response. Be careful adjusting brightness and contrast as they affect the color temp and cause it to drift.

Color Temp:

Custom

R-WP 105
G-WP 84
B-WP 66
R-BL 5
G-BL 5

Dim /lights off settings

Contrast 57
Brightness 62
Color 50
Tint 0
Sharpness 0

(all processing such as pixel perfect, dynamic contrast, are off )

Summary: Great TV - HORRIBLE SHIPPING!
Comment: This is a really nice tv, great picture and I don't think the sound is bad like I've read in other reviews. BUT if you ship through EAGLE beware! They do not have their act together, they sent me the wrong tv and I had to go crazy to resolve the problem.

Summary: A great deal for the money!
Comment: A> This LCD has a crystal clear, bright picture. Even with standard def programming and a non-upconverted DVD player, video, movies, and TV looks outstanding. The "Pixel Perfect" option really makes every thing "pop" without making it look over driven or sharpened.

I have this TV in a well-lit room (daytime) and with much glare from windows. The screen does a very good job at handling the glare, and the TV has a light sensor which will adjust the screen brightness based on ambient light in the room. This is a VERY nice feature, not found on many other TVs.

B> The speakers are fantastic, they are VERY clear, with good full range dynamics.

C> It has a TON of inputs! 3 HDMI inputs, side inputs, USB for viewing photos and MP3s, and updatable firmware make this unit mean its will not be outdated next year. Lots of RCA style A/V inputs in the rear as well (3 of them).. yes, this TV has 7 inputs! This TV runs Lunix! Its hackable! Phillips has the source code for free a free download! Cool! I was able to view photos and images and MP3s off a thumb drive, as well hook up my Sony DSC-H1 Camera right up to the USB port, and view pictures. They looked fantastic on the big screen.

D> Easy to setup, easy to use remote. Non cluttered buttons. Easy to program and understand on screen menu guides. You can either let the TV "set things up for you" by showing several nice HD pictures pre-programed in it, and then letting you pick the best picture based on your viewing preferences. Or you can "dig deeper" and really tweak the picture.

E> When you do get HD programming you will be blown away. This picture is BETTER then how it looked in the store!

F> Somewhat lightweight, Most of the weight (while its in the box) is from the heavy steel and glass base (that comes unattached, you must put the base together, and then install it on the TV). This operation should be done with two people. However, I did it myself. Many wall mount options and bolt holes are on the back to fit many styles of wall brackets.

Two minor "flaws".

1 - The HDMI inputs are a little hard to get to... but it does make for a "Cleaner" and thinner wall mount VS other TVs. this tv is _very_ thin.

2 - NO PC input. Bummer. However, a simple conversion box from PC to HDMI takes care of this, and since there are 3 HDMI inputs, its not that big of a deal. You can buy PCs now with HDMI outputs on them, thus, I feel this is not a major issue as I foresee more PCs with HDMI as an output. You can even upgrade your video card to HDMI.. for example - (MSI RX2600XT-T2D512EZ Radeon HD 2600XT HD Video Card )

Update, Ive had this TV for three months, and I am STILL 100% happy with it! :)

Summary: Awesome HDTV!
Comment: Hi!
I purchased this HDTV from BJ's in MA. I research for about six months and finally concluded this HDTV had everything I was looking for and the price was cheaper than any place I had checked. It is packed with options for enhancing your picture quality. I feel as though I am in the movies or shows. The sound is wonderful as well. I also purchased a Philips surround sound thearter system that rocks the house, and the house next door! :)

I advice you to watch the HDTV's and take this one into consideration! I know BJ's is not in every state, so try Costco, I think they have it for a great price as well. I also purchased a pair of Philips surround sound ear phones, just like the ones for ipod's...They are great!

Good Luck, and thanks Philips!
