Summary: This is the one I wanted
Comment: This is the best thing since toast. I received the universal remote with iPod dock and had the remote programed within minutes. The iPod remote control is radio frequency. So you can control the iPod from anywhere. The remote has a screen that allows you to select the playlist, artist, album, songs, gendres, or composers. You can view what is playing on the LCD screen.
I plugged my dock into a (Sony) stereo receiver. The universal remote communicates with the receiver through infrared. But I mostly use the volume on the iPod and can thus control volume from anywhere.
The universal remote also operates my CD player (Sony), TV (LG), and cable receiver (Motorola/Comcast). It is supposed to control my DVD player. But I haven't used that yet.
I really like this gadget. It is everything I wanted and more.

Summary: Phillips Universal Remote for iPOD review
Comment: I got this as a gift for my father to replace his previous iPOD remote from DLO that somehow had become inoperative after 8 months. This is a truly Plug and Play device. I simply plugged the unit up to the wall, inserted iPOD, turned on remote and immediately began controlling the library of songs on the iPOD. Without reading too many instructions, I began playing with the remote, which sensed the TV. After integrating the TV into the remote, I tried to get the remote to integrate the receiver to which the docking station was attached. I left it with my father, who seemed to get it to work the way he wanted it to work within a couple of days. The ONLY flaw that I can see with this setup is that the remote is a bit long. My dad loved the DLO version of this becuase the remote would fit in his shirt pocket, but at least this device WORKS!

Summary: Great Remote!
Comment: I am very impressed with this remote setup! It works much better than I imagined! If you want remote access to your iPod, this is definitely the way to go. Very user friendly and it actually does what it says it will do. Highly recommended!

Summary: It Works Brilliantly
Comment: This unit is Simplicity at it's best. The Phlilips SJM3151 Universal Remote for iPod worked as advertised. The setup was very easy and with the remote I can now control my Ipod through my stereo system from my patio or anywhere in the house. I could not ask anything more from this product.
I see no reason now not to load up all my library on my "classic 80mb"

Summary: Forget your playlists
Comment: If you want to listen to your playlists the way you made them, forget this product.
For some unknown reason it will take all the songs on your playlist and rearrange them in alphabetical order. Even if you make the list up of albums, it will rearrange all the songs on the list. When I called Phillips tech support, they told me this couldn't be true. Then the tech support person put me on hold and tried it out. She came back on the line saying I was right and there was no way to correct the problem.
Except for this problem, which to me is major, it works very well.
