Summary: Defective directions
Comment: I purchased This supposedly fantastic unit a month ago. For more than a month of my daily commute it doesn't recognize a major exit off the freeway. It didn't learn as they claim.I spoke to pioneer, who asked to check the installation, so i went back to firedog who verified that everything is installed properly. i called tech support again who informed me that it's defective software. The software doesn't calculate certain exits, even though they are on the map. He said that I can't return it and they may be able to update the software in a year.

I don't recommend this unit or tech support to anybody.

Summary: I like it a lot...
Comment: I have had this unit up and running now for approximately two months. NAV system works great. Touch screen is very responsive. Less than 20 seconds to sync up with GPS and have my music or video running all at the same time when I first start my vehicle. Very nice and does not seem like a long time to me.

All NAV/DVD systems lock you out of certain features while you are driving. This is not new or exclusive to Pioneer. However, the fact that Pioneer saw fit to block bypass measures in their software installed on the hard drive of this device shows their overall lack of forward thinking. Too much control over a product deters and slows creativity, innovation, improvement, and compatibility. Wake up Pioneer!! I love your product, but get your corporate chains off my purchase...

Summary: A fair unit but could be easily improved
Comment: The good:
Great graphics, loaded with features, pretty easy to use.

The bad:
- Sometimes the screen goes blank and the only way to get it back is to turn off the car.
- iPod interface is SLOW with no alpha lookup - BIG GLITCH! And scrolling is SLOW.
- GPS is off when you first get going - it shows that I'm in the middle of a field when I leave from home. It takes a bit for the GPS to find the unit. I didn't experience this with my last NAV system.
- Bluetooth interface is ok but could be improved. So far I haven't found how to remove a device previously paired.

Overall I like the unit. I hope Pioneer updates the software. The previous review that stated you can't change music selections while moving is wrong - you can change radio stations, iPod selections/playlists.

Summary: Good product and service
Comment: I really enjoy this product. Once you figure out the menus and intricacies it is fairly user friendly.
The only thing that sucks is the voice recognition. I told it to go to TARGET 8 times, and I got 8 different responses. Since the system does not let you search via the menu while driving, I find this to be a terrible hindrance,
The stereo sounds great, the bluetooth works well, the iPOD thing is way faster than everyone said.
I am giving it a 3 because of the voice and the fact that I had to send it off before I even installed it because it would not power on.
I sent it off to Pioneer on a Monday and got it back THURSDAY. OUTSTANDING PIONEER SERVICE

I even tested the rear TV hookup, and it workd great...as long as it is in DVD mode, mirror mode mimics all that you have on the front screen so someone watching in the back will see what you are doing, instead of the movie

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!!
Comment: This unit is loaded with features. Unfortunately it has so many practical flaws that it virtually unusable and should be avoided.

The most glaring issue is that when the vehicle is in motion almost every feature becomes disabled because the touchscreen interface is blacked out. The touch screen becomes completely inoperable! This is supposedly a "safety" issue, but it makes the unit virtually worthless.

If you are going to a meeting and get a call that its been changed to the office across town, you have to literally pull the car off the road, put it in park, enable the PARKING BRAKE, and then enter the new address. If you are cruising through a city and think that you'd like to find a nearby Chinese restaurant, you have to find a place to park the vehicle before it will allow you to ask the question.

Your music and video controls are also disabled. You can't change channels, choose a new playlist on your iPod, etc.

I called Pioneer because I couldn't believe that this is true. They confirmed it. It is true.

Other major flaws exist. It is VERY expensive, coming in at almost 2X it's competitors. It is very slow to boot up. You have to sit for quite a while before you can begin to input the address that you need to drive to.

Pioneer needs to really rethink what it has done with this unit because it makes no sense.
