Summary: Not deep enough for standard equipment 3.5 Stars
Comment: my samsung dvd/receiver pertrudes about two inches out of the front of the stand because it isn't deep enough. DirectTV DVR fits fine.

Very nice looking, sturdy enough.

Comment: Samsung TR-500X3BX Adjustable 50-, 56- and 61-Inch DLP TV Stand

I ordered this stand from Amazon, based primarily on the recommendation of compatibility from both Samsung and Amazon's websites. I wasn't able to find one locally to look over and hesitantly took a chance by ordering "site unseen." Unfortunately, many of the negative reviews already posted proved to match my experience with this product.

Being an engineer, I feel qualified to state that while the product looks very nice and goes together well, it just doesn't perform well under the 61" TV it's recommended for. I believe it might support the weight of the smaller TV's better, as they're lighter and the stand would use the shorter extender, or none at all in it's assembly, leading to a stronger unit. But that still wouldn't address all it's issues...

I put the stand together in about an hour from signing for it. It went together fairly easily, without any of the previously mentioned errors in the instruction, which must have been rectified.

Due to the shallow depth of the shelves, neither my Motorola cable box, or Samsung TIB / DVD player would fit on the shelves without danger of falling over the front edge. The rear supports also made cable routing very difficult. Despite splitting my components out towards the outer edges of the shelves for maximum support, the glass shelve began to sag under their weight right away.

Almost immediately after placing the TV on the stand, the top shelf began sagging so that the TV was actually leaning forward slightly. I kept the TV toward the back to try to gain as much strength from the rear supports as possible, but that didn't seem to have helped. The following morning, I noticed the TV was leaning so far forward, I was concerned it might topple off the stand, so we removed the TV and decided to go another direction. Again, the problem appears to be related to trying to make this same stand work with multiple size TV's through the use of shelve extenders, leading to it's weakness.

I contacted Amazon and briefly explained my concerns and was promptly and courteously led through a very simple return process. The full amount paid was credited to my account within less than a week after shipping the item back.

5-Star to Amazon, but only 1-Star to the product. I'm not one that's quick to give negative reviews, but in this case it fits the product.

Comment: Fit my Samsung 61" perfectly, and with no tax + free shipping, beat the price at my local Fry's which was out of stock as usual.

Summary: For the $$$ good but not for the living room!
Comment: Updated mid-July: Still in good shape, no sags, no tilting. After 2 months! One additional point; make sure that it is level front to rear as well as side to side.

Used as 61" stand. As for A/V "furniture" this is inexpensive and it has met my expectations. High grades to the fit of every hole and part...this is the best I have ever seen regardless of price or brand. Average grade to the finish; given the structural design of "expandable" this is ok. This is not classic woodworking/cabinet making. Exceptionally functional. Last on the structure; the use of dowels and expansion sections, etc. will not provide mil spec rigidity. The design is aimed at "clean" with no exposed screws, bolt heads, etc. with an overall objective of being low cost. This entire product would benefit from woodworkers' glue and could be added by the constuctor at home.

After reading other reviews, I would suggest a "take your time" approach when constructing the stand. I think understanding the parts and then careful construction is a guarantee to a stronger finished stand. (Also you may want to use the glue on the dowels) The fact that the stand fits together so well makes it possible to go really fast; don't do it - go slow. You won't be sorry.

Last comment, the glass shelves look pretty good and being short in the 61" configuration looks good. On the other hand I do not like the excessive protrusion past the front of the vertical plane, but that gives the shelves more depth...center channel speakers can be fairly deep and most A/V receivers are too deep anyway once you connect HDMI cables. I would think the stand is good for a center channel, STB/DVR, DVD player at most.
