Summary: Excellent TV
Comment: We did lots of research on both Plasma and LCD TVs before finally realizing that our family room was too bright for a reflective plasma screen. Sony is a great TV brand and I went to the local electronics stores and compared this TV to all the other 52 inch LCDs. The picture quality was equal to or better than all of the others I compared, except maybe the XBR4...and the picture for the XBR4 did not seem to warrant the extra $$. Of course, the price on Amazon was hundreds lower than at the local stores, plus no tax. I also really like the non-reflective frame around the screen. The white glove delivery service was great and arrived within only a few days of our order. This TV has totally transformed our viewing experience. Thanks Amazon!!

Summary: KDL-52W3000
Comment: After doing a lot of research and hitting all of the local electronic stores I went with the 52" kdl52w3000 SONY this TV is great! The picture is outstanding, plenty of HDMI inputs. Best feature is the remote and the flexibility to customize the picture with all of the advanced settings. Looked at the 120hz tv's and was really bothered by how they play video's, makes everything look like a soap opera or a live play, messes with the frame speed and throws the refresh rate off from what looks natural. Amazon's white glove delivery was great, they unpackaged the unit, powered it up and checked the remote and offered to remove all of the packaging material and take it with them. Once you watch broadcast tv in HD it's tough to watch a 480i standard broadcast channel. No blurring even watching the fast paced hockey games or basketball in HD. I would highly recommend this tv to a friend.

Summary: Got HD? (Sony KDL-52W3000)
Comment: Strengths: Razor sharp 1080p and 1080i, wide viewing angles, vivid "Live Color Creation", many connectivity options, anti-glare screen, excellent value.
Weaknesses: No 120Hz refresh rate. No LED backlight illumination.
Summary: Buying a large screen LCD TV online can be daunting. Luckily, I've gotten a great holiday deal from an online merchant back in Dec. 2007 and CevaEagle Global delivered it quickly and without damage.
Like most informed consumers, I did lots of research online and visited local stores to compare different brands. I decided on mid-tier models for heavy-duty family room viewing and narrowed down to the Sony KDL-52W3000 and Sharp LC-52D92U. The Sharp has better contrast, black shade levels, and 120Hz refresh rate while the Sony has better color and stock audio. The Sony won because I use stock audio 75% of the time and costs less.
My KDL-52W3000 is connected to Directv HD DVR (HDMI), Sony Blu-ray Disc player (HDMI), Panasonic 5.1 HTIB (component and optical digital audio), and Wii(component). Satellite HD (1080i-interlaced) are crisp and detailed (can see one strand of hair sticking out on newscaster) Blu-ray discs (1080p-progressive) are just eye-poppingly, retina-scorchingly sharp. Stock audio sounds good set on Dynamic with S-Force Front Surround. However, not quite as good as the HTIB (which I'll upgrade soon for even better sound). My kids and I are happy with the Wii's 480p resolution set to Vivid. The downside to all this HD is all the SD(standard definition) channels look blurry but can be somewhat enhanced by using Vivid picture setting.
Being an avid NBA and NCAA hoops fan, I was a bit concerned with the lack of 120Hz refresh rate. However, I initially noticed some occasional blurring during quick movements and turning off Noise Reduction and MPEG noise reduction has made it a non-issue. The satellite HD-DVR is set to 16:9 standard format while the TV is set to Full (wide mode). This stretches out most SD channels but the HD channels are all in correct proportion with the occasional boxes on the sides (set by station). The Lack of LED backlight means some uneven lighting during dark scenes and fading to black. Turning off "Gamma" and "Clear White" in advanced picture settings has helped minimize occasional graininess / screen noise with varying shades of black. Also, LEDs last longer than fluorescent backlight but by that time I've already upgraded.
By no means a perfect large screen LCD HDTV, the KDL-52W3000 delivers a powerful punch with excellent value, above-average picture and sound, plenty of connectivity options, and lots of setting options for those who like to tinker with electronics to set personal preferences.

Summary: Can't be wrong with brand name Sony
Comment: Sony Bravia KDL-52W3000 52" 1080p LCD HDTVI had purchased Sony KDL40V2500 for my study room for almost one year and am very happy about the quality of the Sony LCD TV - no problems so far. Now I don't watch any non HD programs. We have to replace the old 46" analog TV set with HDTV in the family room. So I checked other options including 55" real-projection TVs. But I finally settled down on this 52" LCD one because it takes much less space in depth and the price has dropped to my comfortable zone (a few hundreds more than the real-projection ones). I also bought the Sony SUFL300L stand - they match very well!. I picked up Sony because of its brand name and the availability of other "eco-system" gears with the HDTV set. Now I am shopping for home theatre systems and Blue Ray DVD player (maybe PS3 should just be fine?). My only "complain" is Sony should come up with a universal remote control that works with any other Sony audio/video gears AND Comcast cable box!. We just have too many different remote controls laying around the house!

Summary: Third Time is the Charm
Comment: I have been going Through HDTV Hell this past year. Last March I purchased a Toshiba 47LZ196 which suffered from Ghost Bars. Toshiba bought the TV back. I than purchased A Mitsubishi LT46231 which had numerous issues and they bought it back. I just received my Sony KDL52W3000 and finally have a TV which does everything it is supposed to and looks Phenominal! It cleans up SD and makes it watchable. It brings the best out of any cable HD signals. It upscales DVDs so they look Great. With the Blu ray Disk Player it blows your mind. I would recommend this TV over any other currently available including the XBRs which cost way to much and do not do anything visibly better! Run out and buy one if you can. Amazon is Great with the delivery too.
