Summary: A problem solver
Comment: Works very well. My transmitter sits on the mantle beneath my LCD and the receiver is on the top shelf in a cabinet with my A/V equipment. Only two negatives. The receiver is elevated compared with my seating position and I found that tilting the Powermid toward me improved performance from a longer distance. I suspect the shape of the Powermid may cause this. Why not just make it square. I guess they would have to change the name. The other neg is that it is not a real long distance performer. At least from remote control to transmitter. I start having problems at about 25ft. I could set the transmitter closer to me and it worked fine but I never could get used to pointing the remote away from the TV to make my cable box and A/V work. I like it near the TV and can live with its limitations.
Still, its a solid product.

Comment: I agree that these are generally pretty good. They work from about 10 ft away and about 45 degrees. There are some things you should be aware of though. They don't come with an IR blaster but it has a connection if you want to buy it separately. This would be necessary if there either isn't a place near an outlet to put the receiver in front of the devices you want to control or if you have the same TV in both rooms (do you want to turn off another TV because you turned on another?). Also, they don't have a channel select so if someone around you has the same device they'll be controlling your devices. I am currently having this problem in my apartment.

Summary: Super Easy And It Works
Comment: The product was shipped from 10X Express an Amazon 2nd party seller. It took 3 days to arrive after ordered from Texas to Southern California (standard shipping.) The box was placed in a shipping envelope not a box. At first I was concerned but when I opened the package and saw the foam interior I realized that an outer box to protect the inner box would have been a waste.
This will be the easiest to use audio visual product that you ever purchased. You literally plug it in and it works. I have my TV components in a closet and it worked fine.
It also has a jack for an infrared emitter. The emitter is not included but is easily available. This would give you the ability to transmit an IR signal directly to a single component's receiver.
You could spend a lot more for other IR extender systems, but why bother when there is such an easy, inexpensive option available.
UPDATE One year later and it has started to fail. It takes 4 button pushes to make it work. Very Frustrating.

Summary: The Power Mid works great!!
Comment: These are the first Remote Control Extenders I have purchased. The only reason I bought them is because of the high reviews everyone else gave them. I just hooked them up, and so far they work great. It took 5 minutes to get them both plugged in to the wall, and set up where I wanted them. You don't have to connect to the satellite or television. Just plug them in and you are good to go. Now I can enjoy my satellite in 2 rooms without getting up to change the channel. Now I will take my chances and try the x10 audio video senders and see if the work too.
If you are going to purchase RC extenders. Then these are the ones to get.

Comment: I recently purchased a new TiVo which was too big to fit in the exposed area of my media center, so I had to put it behind closed doors. I had read several reviews about competing products and decided to go with the X10 POWERMID based on the Amazon reviews and on the recommendations from the TiVo forums.
I've only had the POWERMID for about a month, but I've been remarkably impressed with how well it works. Setup was a breeze and its barely skipped a beat since. I say barely because on occasion it doesn't seem to transmit the signal and requires a second key press.
Overall, the unit works very well and does exactly what I want it to do. I would recommend this product to others who may be looking for similar functionality.
