Summary: Works impressively well...
Comment: I recently purchased a new TiVo which was too big to fit in the exposed area of my media center, so I had to put it behind closed doors. I had read several reviews about competing products and decided to go with the X10 POWERMID based on the Amazon reviews and on the recommendations from the TiVo forums.

I've only had the POWERMID for about a month, but I've been remarkably impressed with how well it works. Setup was a breeze and its barely skipped a beat since. I say barely because on occasion it doesn't seem to transmit the signal and requires a second key press.

Overall, the unit works very well and does exactly what I want it to do. I would recommend this product to others who may be looking for similar functionality.

Summary: A realhandy devce-works well....that said, however.......
Comment: I bought a 2 sets of these with an extra (X-10) transmitter about 8 to 10 years ago. At that time there were TWO different frequencies available. I naturally selected all of the same frequency. I recently (a year ago) I attempted to expand the system with additional pieces. I was told there was only ONE frequency, there had never been two. WRONGO, Kemo Sabe! The new stuff would NOT work with my older units. My overall success with various X-10 items has been a mixture of satisfaction and grief.
.
When this set-up works, it works well.Very good range, seemingly good quality (one set 10 years old and still going)
.
I'm gunna' try the "NEXT GENERERATION REMOTE CONTROL EXTENDER (ATH-AAA)" which has had good feedback, is less expensive, and MUCH handier, to wit: The remote doesn't have to be "aimed" at anthing. It works on RF not IR.
.
More on the "NEXT GENERERATION REMOTE CONTROL EXTENDER (ATH-AAA)" later after purchase.
.
One is led to wonder just how well the similar Jenson (elsewhere) at $19.95 INCLUDING SHIPPING would fare against the Powermid. The price range of different makes of this type gadget runs the gamut from pocket change to serious money.

Summary: Works perfectly and very neat
Comment: Works perfectly with my logitech harmony uni-remote. Smaller than photos make them appear - they look about the size of a metronome by they're actually only about 4 inches tall - very neat and cute.

Summary: Works Great
Comment: Don't even bother with the Radio Shack or Leapfrog IR extenders. They really don't work well. I have a satellite receiver in my basement that the IR receiver is looking at and from my bedroom upstairs I can control the equipment without even having the the Powermid transmitter plugged in. That's how well the Powermid receiver works. I can use the transmitter in another location if i want. I bought the two above mentioned extenders and returned them immediately. If your looking for a reliable product, this is the one. Spend the extra 10 bucks and save yourself a lot of hassle.

Summary: This works where the Terk doesn't
Comment: This beats the Terk hands down. I tried the Terk for weeks, positioning both transmitter and receiver in different spots, could never get consistent results. The Powermid works like a charm. It seems to send out a pretty strong IR signal, because you can have the receiver (receives radio, transmits IR) quite a long distance from your devices, so it doesn't stick out.
