Summary: If only it cancelled jerks!
Comment: GREAT!

I work in a building (military delpoyed overseas) with some sister service people and the stomp, slam doors and talk about things I'd rather not hear. From time to time they think I ignore them because I can't hear them talking!

When on airplanes, these phones cancel the air, engine, and screaming baby noise to a tolerable level, and with music, these make traveling more peaceful.

With noise cancellation engaged music levels don't have to be so high.

Nuff said.

Summary: Good Headphones, Great Value
Comment: Headphones work great on an airplane. Remarkable improvement in enjoyment flying. Good sound quality albeit a bit flat with mediocre bass.

There are probably better headphones on the market, but for this price they cannot be touched.

Unless you have more money than sense, buy these instead of Sennheisers. Don't buy BOSE unless you are a sucker.

Comment: These headphones are awsome.
Cuts noise amazingly, and can be worn from Chicago to London without taking off, in complete comfort.
These are my second pair. Very good, and well worth the money!

Summary: Excellent value vs. Bose
Comment: These headphones are a close second to the Bose noise cancelling headphones and, for the money, a better buy. In fact, I prefer these to the Bose because the Bose, while effective, gave me a weird "stuffy head" sensation whereas the AudioTechnica do not.

I have recently used them on a commercial flight and they allowed me to listen to soft music easily. I also listened to several podcasts that I heard clearly (no small feat given my partial hearing loss!). I also use them daily during a 45 minute commute to work in a van pool.

These phones are as comfortable as any I have tried and seem very well constructed.

Note: While these headphones function in the non-sound cancelling mode, the quality of sound is definitely superior with sound cancelling turned on. The cable is detachable if you just want quiet and they come with a nice case and accessories.

Summary: Good Active Phones, But I Prefer My Vic Virths
Comment: Simply stated, the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 are the best active noise cancelling headphones I've tried/owned on a durability and a "bang for the buck" basis. In my opinion, they sound about as good as the Bose headphones I've tried and seem to be about as well constructed. They do not hiss like the Sony active phones I've tried. They have proved to be far more durable than the two pairs of Phillips I've owned, broken, and discarded. Bottom line: the Audio Technica phones reproduce music accurately and do a good job attenuating...but not eliminating...ambient noise.

This said, I prefer my passive Vic Firth isolation headphones (www.musiciansfriend.com). Why? The Vic Firth phones, primarily used by musicians in high-decibel situations, are far less expensive, sound about as good, block more noise than any active phones I've tried, and are virtually bullet-proof (go ahead and drop them...or throw them).
