Summary: Nice machine but not enough RAM for Vista
Comment: I bought this machine in August 2007 for my business. While I love the screen size, there is definitely not enough RAM to run with Vista -- this has 2Gb, which has proven to be too little. The machine is very slow to start up and locks up when a large file, such as Power Point or video, is opened. I often have to close everything up and restart the machine. I checked with HP, and the laptop will not take additional RAM -- I have a 4Gb jump drive that's using a Windows program to function as "virtual" RAM, but it really doesn't help much.
Also, the 120 Gb hard drive is almost completely filled, mainly due to Vista -- I don't store a lot of stuff on it (no movies, for instance).
HP support has been only moderately helpful.
I have a Dell desktop that originally came with 1Gb of RAM and ran like molasses with Vista -- but then I upgraded to 4Gb and now it screams. This tells me that there's really no hope for this laptop since it's stuck at 2Gb. Whatever you do, if you plan to use Vista, get 4Gb RAM on the machine and a gi-hugic hard drive. Therefore, don't buy this particular HP. :-)
And yes, it is very heavy when traveling...

Summary: Tech Support makes this a computer to avoid!
Comment: When I first brought this computer home I was thrilled. It had a dazzling screen display, fast and a delight to use. But after 4 months it stopped performing so well. I didn't buy it to play games but after trying out some of the trial games I got hooked. But now the games and videos do not work as well as they did at first. Performance is choppy at best and tech support is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced! I passed up buying a Toshiba because the price on the HP was attractive and in the past tech support had been stellar. No more, I've tried phone support and was frustrated that I couldn't understand the tech because of her accent. She was clearly "researching" was we went along. Nothing helped. Next I tried email support. That too was a fiasco. They are now ignoring my emails. If I could do over I would buy the Toshiba. If you value your sanity skip this computer.

Comment: This product is horrible. Their tech support is disgraceful. when i first got this product i had it for less then 2 weeks before the wireless card died. then 3 weeks later i got it back. less then a week after that the computer crashed. I had to start from scratch again. then the internal wireless card died again. i would never tell someone to get it it is horrible.

Summary: Terrible service, nice screen. Don't buy.
Comment: Absolutely the worst, most frustrating tech support I have ever encountered. Any computer can have problems. To have to do 4 destructive recoveries, return the laptop twice for service and still have the same problems is unacceptable. Then to be assigned a case manager whose voice mail has no more space for messages is an insult. Finally they give you a phone number to call corporate. It is always busy. It has been 5 months of countless hours on hold and conflicting and uninformed instructions from barely intelligible "techies".
DON'T BUY UNLESS YOU HAVE MASOCHISTIC TENDENCIES.
