Summary: Awesome tv for a budget
Comment: I bought this tv while serving an overseas tour in Okinawa, Japan. Let me tell you....if you didn't pay attention, you would think that this was an actual HDTV. The picture quality, contrast, vibrance, etc. is by far, the best I have ever seen in a tube tv. You want a great tv for the house? This should be the one you buy. The only problem is that it weighs a good 100lbs but it's still a 5 star item in my book.

Comment: I fell in love with this TV from the start. It was between this and the Sony Wega, but the reviews seemed to good to be true for the Panasonic, and oh yes, they are too good to be true. Getting it home and unpacked was a Herculean task. Setting up the colors so that the red didn't fry your eyes was the next obstacle. Finally, I relaxed and enjoyed this TV for the past 14 months. Tonight when I turned it on....poof! The screen painted bands of colors around the outside and the picture's center was black and white. I am disappointed to learn that this thing is made in Mexico, plus the fact that for over $400 you'd expect a TV to last for more than 14 months. That's pathetic. I had an old Signature 2000 Mongomery Ward RCA 27" TV that lasted 7 years even with the cold solder joint problems. Shame on you Panasonic.

Summary: Great picture, for a boat anchor
Comment: I deeply regret buying this cheaply-built excuse for high-end video equipment. I'm not at all surprised it's assembled south of the quality-control line, this thing is the K-Car of TV's. Yes, the picture is amazing...when you're not staring at a blank screen because the thing dive-bombed on Day 95 of ownership...and OH, big surprise, the parts-and-labor warranty expires at 90 days!
I'm an electronics technician, and it was actually cheaper for me to void the warranty by fixing it myself, spending a rather large amount of money on parts, rather than paying someone else a larger sum just for labor with free parts. And it is no joke that this thing weighs a ton--it both feels and performs like a pricey anchor for the USS Arizona. If you live on the second floor and have to take it in for repairs, you will curse Panasonic to your last breath.
I had to buy THREE parts: a new powersource card (ouch), a new video interface (the coax cable jack snapped off like the cheap plastic it is), AND a couple of cables that got fried when the powersource blew...and I had it on a surge protector. This is worse than Army equipment, which is lowest-bidder built. If you could see the insides (your local technician WILL see its insides, trust me), you'd see how poorly constructed it is--cheap shortcuts and flimsy plastic everywhere.
Save your money. You'll love this TV for however long it takes for one of its myriad technical issues to surface, and it will likely happen after the warranty expires. You could very easily spend its purchase price on repairs, and Panasonic will straight tell you, "So sorry! Hope you'll continue to buy our products anyway!" (RIGHT.)

Summary: Beware this TV is Made In Mexico!
Comment: I bought this hunk of junk TV five months ago as a Christmas present to my mom. Yesterday it conked out.
Now I have to go thru the hassle of getting it fixed all because Panasonic wants to boost profits by having it's TV's assembled in Mexico. They only have to pay workers 50 cents an hour there....you get what you pay for. I'll never buy anything with Panasonico's name on it again.

The CT-27SX12 is a 27" diagonal Tau series PureFlat stereo television. Analog Tau series PureFlat lets you experience richly detailed images with incredible depth from corner to corner. Compared to regular curved screens, the PureFlat screen produces fewer reflections, so you can enjoy distraction-free TV viewing no matter where you sit in the room. The Invar Mask adds to the flat screen picture quality, by applying the optimal amount of vertical tension to the shadow mask to minimize the color shift problem common with conventional flat CRTs. BBE high-definition sound improves speech intelligibility, and restores the dynamic range of musical passages to help provide a more natural sound. Component video input delivers outstanding resolution and color accuracy of video images from a variety of sources, including DVD players, by keeping the Y, PR, PB of video images intact during the transmission process. Surround Sound simulates stereo sound - even from a monaural source - by delaying the original, 2-channel sound to create a "surround" effect. Advanced circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. Channel banner captures information transmitted with each program and places it on-screen in a semi-transparent banner. This information includes TV station identification and the V-chip rating for the program being transmitted. In addition to basic television controls, the lighted universal remote can operate most VCRs, cable boxes, and DVD players. Plus, illuminated buttons make it easier to use in darkened rooms.
