Summary: Don't buy a Toshiba DLP T.V.
Comment: So my wife and I go to get a new T.V. two years ago and I am think about a DLP Samsung model since at the time Plasmas were expensive and had a limited life due to the gas and LCD just was not there yet in quality. We get to the store and see a Toshiba right next to it for the same price a little bit better picture and two inches bigger. Wife wants that one so we get it because I have owned other Toshiba products and they have worked well. About a year and a half later after spending 3K on the T.V. the picture gets bad so I switch out cables and cable boxes and try everything thinking it can't be the TV. Well it is the T.V. and guess what Toshiba only offers a one year warranty.
Ok, that is my fault for not researching the TV but hey wife says lets get it I am not going to stop because the last TV we had for ten years. So I call Toshiba for a customer service tech they support. The first one they give me I know and those people could not fix a paperclip let alone a TV and I would have had to take it to them. It was in a bad part of town and the TV is 62 inches, what are they thinking. So I go with the next one which is mobile and I ask Toshiba if these people are checked out by them since the first recommendation was a bad one and they yes. So that repair person comes out and says the repair will be about 1,500 to 2 thousand dollars so I might as well get a new TV and oh the bill is 55.00 to tell me that. This is from a recommended Toshiba repair man. So in the end if you want to waist your money go with Toshiba but I will NEVER buy one of their TV's again no matter what.
FYI, I would have talked with Toshiba but they don't have any answering their phones so I really hope they lose some sales because of this.

Summary: Great for 16 months, then kaboom
Comment: I wish I had read some of the reviews that came out after I made my purchase of this TV in Dec 2006. I might just be one of the unlucky ones, but for the first 16 months of owning the baby I would have challenged anyone complaining about it. I started reading the rumors of the "bulb problems" and figured it might just be a minority of people but did get worried that I'd have to start buying $200 bulbs once my Best Buy PSP expired. Well on April 28 of this year, just 16 months of very light useage (probably an hour a day on average, so less than 1000 hours) I went to turn it on and the light on the front marked "Lamp" started blinking. To make a long story short, Best Buy could NOT fix it and after a full month and 4 repair visits, I finally got a exchange code to bring to Best Buy to get a refund or exchange. The problem with Best Buy is that (a) it took them a full month to determine the TV was not repairable (b) they order parts after looking at your TV and you need to set up the next appt which will be a minimum 1 week later (c) if you paid $400 for the matching Toshiba TV stand you are out of luck bcs the PSP only covers the TV and they don't care about the fact the TV is no longer offered by Best Buy nor do I want to roll the dice with this TV again. Based on what I read about Toshiba, I will give Best Buy customer service credit for at least being somewhat nice about telling me I was out of luck and they don't value my business enough to haggle over a $400 TV stand.

Summary: 1 Year+ and still going great!
Comment: I've had my Toshiba since November of 2006 and I have not had one problem out it whatsoever. The picture looks great, the bulb life is great, it doesn't make much noise at all. If the bulb goes out I've got a three year bulb warranty that will take care of that so that's not an issue.
It's great having SuperBowl parties and being the place everyone wants to come to watch the big game. My den is longer rather than wider so the size of it fits perfectly in the room. I'd highly recommend this set to anyone.

Summary: BEWARE of the "DLP Tax"
Comment: I bought this TV in Nov 06 (manf Oct 06). GREAT picture... but it started to go dimmer in June and in July, POP!! I do a search for Toshiba DLP bulb replacement and there are THOUSANDS of hits on the problems with the bulbs in Toshiba's DLP TVs. Some bulbs only last 2-3 months. Toshiba is aware of the problem and extended the warranty on the ORIGINAL bulb to 2 years... but on replacement bulbs it is only 180 days. There are numerous people who have had to replace bulbs a couple times a year. At $200 a pop, this is one heck of a "tax" to operate this TV. The picture is great and I love the TV, but if I knew I'd have to spend $200 a year to keep it going, I'd have just spent that money towards something that would last me longer.
Google the subject before you buy so you'll be an informed consumer!
